At Gosforth Group and Great Park Academy, our vision is simple: creating futures for every student.

From the moment students join Great Park Academy, they become part of a wider community, where their future is already being shaped. As part of Gosforth Group, this means students are supported through a wider Trust journey, with clear pathways through each stage of their education and into Sixth Form and beyond.

We recognise that every young person is different, and there are a range of exciting pathways available after Year 11. Our role is to support students in understanding these options and making the choices that are right for them.

At the same time, as part of this shared journey, students also benefit from clear, well-established pathways, including opportunities to continue into our highly successful Sixth Forms.

Exploring Post-16 Pathways

After Year 11, students at Great Park Academy can choose from a range of pathways, including:

Sixth Form study (A Levels and vocational courses)
Further Education Colleges
Apprenticeships and training
Employment with training

Through our careers education programme, we ensure that all students have access to impartial information, guidance and support to help them explore these routes and make informed decisions about their future.

Continuing your journey within Gosforth Group

For students at Great Park Academy, progressing into Sixth Form within Gosforth Group is a natural and aspirational next step.

Our Sixth Forms at Jesmond Park Academy and Gosforth Academy offer a wide range of academic and vocational courses, alongside excellent outcomes and enrichment opportunities.

Students who choose this pathway benefit from a seamless transition into Sixth Form life, building on the knowledge, skills and confidence developed during their time within the Trust. This continuity is supported by a shared ethos and a consistent approach to learning, teaching and personal development.

Each year, a significant number of students from across our academies choose to continue their journey with us, developing their independence, ambitions and aspirations as they prepare for adulthood.

Our Sixth Forms are proud to welcome students from across all Gosforth Group academies, as well as those joining us from other schools across the region. This creates diverse, inclusive and ambitious Sixth Form communities where students can thrive and succeed in their next stage.
