Implementation

Identification and Assessment

We employ a robust system for identifying and assessing students with SEND, ensuring early intervention and ongoing support. When initial concerns are raised to the attention of the Learning Support Team, these are acted upon swifty with thorough assessments conducted using a variety of tools and approaches. This includes close collaboration with parents and carers, gathering information about the child's strengths, needs, and aspirations. Pupils for whom initial concerns have been raised are then monitored closely so that any necessary next steps can be taken to ensure their progress.

Tailored Curriculum

We pride ourselves on understanding the needs of our pupils with SEND and our curriculum is designed to meet their diverse needs. We provide quality first teaching strategies, materials, and resources to cater to individual learning styles, adapting content and pace to ensure accessibility. Our teaching staff receive regular training on SEND best practices, including effective support techniques.

Supportive Interventions

We offer a range of targeted interventions to support students with SEND. This includes small group lessons, one-to-one support, and additional in-class support provided by skilled Learning Support Assistants (LSAs). We deliver reading, maths and mental health interventions alongside enhanced personal development sessions.  These interventions are carefully planned, monitored, and evaluated to address specific areas of need and promote progress. We also collaborate with external agencies and specialists to access additional support and expertise when required.

Mental Health and Well-being

Supporting the mental health and well-being of students with SEND is a priority. We are conscious of the emotional needs of our students and pride ourselves on providing a safe space for them to express their feelings. Our pastoral team, in collaboration with external professionals, delivers targeted interventions to address mental health concerns. Staff receive training on mental health awareness and strategies for supporting students' emotional well-being, promoting a positive school culture for all.

Partnerships and Collaboration

We believe in the power of partnerships in ensuring the best possible outcomes for students with SEND. We actively engage with parents and carers, valuing their expertise and insights to inform our provision. Staff communicate regularly with parents and carers and meetings are organized to foster collaborative relationships. We also work closely with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, health professionals, and local authorities, to access specialist services and advice.

Inclusive School Environment

Creating an inclusive school environment is foundational to our SEND provision. We promote a culture of respect, understanding, and acceptance, celebrating and valuing the achievements and contributions of all students. Our PRAISE code celebrates the achievements of all and encourages inclusivity and acceptance. We actively monitor and tackle any instances of discrimination or bullying, ensuring that everyone feels safe and supported. Our classrooms and resources are accessible and stimulating, reflecting the diverse needs of our students.
