Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH)

We support and make provision for students with various social, emotional and mental health difficulties, for example, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, low mood, and social or emotional challenges.

Type of support and provision available:

  • We have a dedicated pastoral team which provides a wide range of support for students with social, emotional and mental health
  • We use small group, targeted programmes to improve social skills and improve emotional resilience
  • 1-1 emotional support delivered according to need
  • We regularly work with external agencies such as the NUFC Foundation and Rise to offer targeted support for pupils
  • We provide information and support to pupils, staff and parents regarding emotional and social needs
  • We use risk assessments and take action to ensure the safety and inclusion of all pupils in all activities.
  • We seek support and guidance from outside agencies such as the School Health Advisor and Children and Young People’s Services (CYPs)
  • We have a visiting counsellor available to speak to students each Friday morning.
