Useful information for 2022-2023

Essential information for the next academic year 2022-23 

 

Pupils will return to school on Tuesday 6th September 2022. 

Drop off arrangements 

Flexible drop-offs will be available again from 8am each morning. All pupils arriving before 8.25 will go to the sports hall. On dry days, the fire exit will be open, and a member of staff will greet pupils at the door. On wetter days, pupils will need to enter through the Sport Gosforth entrance and walk around to the sports hall doors on the inside of the school. Pupils may wish to bring trainers to wear so that they can participate in morning sports but will need to change back into school shoes ready for lessons. 

 

End of day arrangements 

Year 5 pupils will finish the school day at 3pm 

Year 6 pupils will finish the school day at 3.10pm. Can we please ask parents who pick their children up to arrive as close to this time as possible to allow the parents of Year 5 pupils to safely exit the car park first at 3pm.

After school clubs 

After-school clubs will run Monday - Thursday until 3.45pm. Any pupils attending an after-school club will participate in the activities until 3.45pm and be dismissed at the gate at 3.45pm by the supervising member of staff. A timetable of clubs will be sent to parents in September with a maximum of 30 pupils in each club. A signup system will be arranged. Clubs will rotate termly.  

An additional homework/reading club will be available Mon-Thursday supervised by Miss Readman until 3.45 pm. 

 

Staffing and tutor groups 

I am pleased to inform you that next year we will be joined by several new staff and some existing staff members will be taking on new roles and responsibilities.  

Miss Lisgo will take on a new role as Key Stage 2 English Coordinator and Miss Deol will take on the role of Key Stage 2 Maths Coordinator.  

We will also be joined by three new teaching members of staff, Miss Callaghan, Miss Grainger, and Miss Anderson.  

Mr Richardson will take up the post of Senior Learning and Pastoral Supervisor in September.

Year 6 will be divided into 3 teaching groups for English and Maths lessons who will be taught by Miss Lisgo, Miss Deol, and Miss Callaghan. Pupils will be taught with their form group for the wider curriculum.

PE Days 

Pupils will wear PE kit on days when they have PE. PE days are as follows: 

Year 5 - Tuesday and Wednesday 

Year 6 - Monday and Friday 

Secondhand uniform 

To help support our families and be more environmentally friendly, we would be grateful to welcome any donations of GPA school uniform once it no longer fits our pupils which can be recycled and used by other pupils in the future. We also welcome any donations of dressing-up clothes that could be utilised for school performances and drama. Any donations can be handed into the school office.
