32 schools entered this year's Bob Maddison Cup, the largest tournament in Newcastle Schools Football. After some fantastic performances in previous rounds, we played an extremely tough opponent in Kingston Park in the quarter-finals. Showing great character and resilience, the boys progressed through to the semi-final, in which, again, they were successful against Dame Allens.

The final was always going to be tough. Playing against Walkergate who beat us in last years final and holding an impressive record of the cup, the team knew they would be in for a battle.

The boys came flying out of the traps, nearly going 1-0 up in the first minute! Our first goal came shortly after when a well worked passing move was finished by Mamadou. The team kept their feet firmly on the gas playing some excellent football and putting another two goals away, Tommy with a great strike and Mamadou with his second of the game.

Walkergate pulled one back after half time, but the team showed immense character and defended exceptionally well before a fantastically worked short corner was smashed home by Tommy for his second!

Great Park Academy thoroughly deserved the win, which is a historic first-cup competition for the school! The team had also previously won the Simpson League earlier in the season, finishing with an incredible double - an amazing accomplishment!
